Misleading Language

I have thought about this for most of my life since I've learned to think using language, that language leads to metaphysical beliefs and madness.

Why would this be so? Is it because language obscures instead of revealing the form of what is true? If it is because we don't understand the rules.
what determines the rules? They surely cannot be just arbitrary and they must bear some relation to facts which we try to express by means of the language. The rules mainly reflect the ideas of common sense, but science has shown by discovery that common sense is often wrong.

If science uses a different language, which language is to be preferred, and why? And isn't it possible that a metaphysical language has merits of its own?
What actually determines the truth or falsehood of our beliefs? Knowledge is a form of union of ourselves and not ourselves; like all unions, it is impaired by dominion, and therefore by any attempt to force the universe into conformity with what we find in ourselves.

It is untrue that truth is man-made, that space and time (spacetime) and the world of universals are properties of the mind, and that, if there be anything not created by the mind, it is unknowable and of no account for us. What most people call knowledge is a set of prejudices, habits, bigotries, and desires, making an impenetrable veil between them and the world they live in-----the only objective reality there is.

A "free" intellect will value more the abstract and universal knowledge brought by the senses, and dependant, as such knowledge must be, upon an inclusive and personal point of view and a body whose sense-organs distort as much as they reveal. Such a person will view its purposes and desires as parts of the whole (Not selfish desires), with the absence of insistence that results from seeing them as infinitesimal fragments in a world of which all the rest is unaffected by any one man's deeds.

This makes us citizens of the "universe", not only of one walled city at war with all the rest. With this realization the universe consists of man's true freedom, and his liberation from the thralldom of narrow-minded hopes and fears. We study and learn, not for the sake of any definite absolute answers, but rather for the sake of questions, since no definite answers can, as a rule, be known to be true, but rather for the questions themselves; because these questions enlarge our conception of what is possible, enriching our intellectual imagination and diminishes the dogmatic assurance which which closes the mind against speculation; above all because the universe contemplated, the mind also is rendered great, and becomes capable of that union with the universe which constitutes the highest good----we become god-like.
